tucked away gem...

Often the best eateries are found in tuckedaway places, and the only clue is the number of cars filling the car park midweek in winter. This is certainly the case with Cockhaven Manor. It is well worth finding the village of Bishopsteington on the map and tracking down the Inn, as it is everything a traditional pub should be, with its 16thcentury origins in clear evidence. The warmth of the log fires is matched by the warmth of the welcome at this family-owned and run independent free-house. It has everything you would expect in terms of real ales and has an extensive wine list, but it is the quality of the food and value for money philosophy of the owners that ensures the full car park. Food is the priority from a candlelit dinner for two, to a wedding banquet for ninety.

food fit for a king ...

Although Head Chef David Baldwin has returned to his West Country roots here in Bishopsteignton, the experience of catering for lavish London banquets can be recognised in the combination of exquisite cuisine and the finest of West Country produce. An extensive a la carte menu is supplemented by fresh fish and specials boards, so whatever your taste you will find something to excite your taste buds, and all at tremendous value-formoney prices.
renowned Sunday lunches ...

If you have not yet visited Cockhaven Manor, then a relaxed Sunday lunch may provide the ideal opportunity.

Superb food, described by the Herald Express 'Sunday Lunch Inspector' as "fantastic value for money" at just £10.95 for 3 courses with excellent choices and coffee included. But do book early as Sunday Lunch is always fully sold out.
local at the local ...

Perhaps accompany your meal with a bottle of Old Walls wine from the village vineyard, or a pint from the village's Red Rock Brewery. Whether you decide on Moule Mariniere with River Teign mussels, or Eggs from Riverside Poultry, local produce is used wherever possible.

variety 'the spice of life' ...
