FISHING
Newton Abbot Fishing Association offers some of the best coarse fishing in Devon. There are rights on 20 waters in Newton Abbot and also the Rive Isle and Somerset Levels. Catches could include tench to 12lbs, bream to 9lbs and perch to 3lbs.
Full membership is restricted to those living within a 20 mile radius of Newton Abbot, but there is associate membership available. Full senior membership is £75 and associate membership £50, there are also junior and OAP memberships available.
For all fishing tackle needs Tackle Frenzy on Heathfield Industrial Estate approx 4 miles form Newton Abbot provides bait, tackle sales and licences and Day Tickets.
Lower Teign Fishing Club has many Newton Abbot members. This club has fishing rights on parts of the Rivers Teign and Bovey. Membership is required but day fishing licences can be brought from tackle shops. An Environment Agency licence is also required
Ashcombe Adventure Centre offers coarse fishing at the centre. It has well stocked lakes, carp, roach and tench among the fish to be caught. An Environment Agency licence is also required.
SHOOTING
Big Shoot clay pigeon shooting has 2 venues within 1 hour’s drive of Newton Abbot. One is in Plymouth and the other in Tiverton.
Dartmoor Shooting and Hawking is a family run shoot between Mortonhampstead and Manton right in the heart of Dartmoor. This venue is approx 45min – 1hour from Newton Abbot.
Up to 8 people on an experienced shoot day and up to 8 on tuition days. Experienced shoots £150 and Beginners shoots £170 to include safety talk and practice on clays. Insurance is also provided.
Hawking days also available, either a half day or a full day.
Pheasant season 1st October to 1st February and hawking is available all year.
