Description:

St Paul’s Church was consecrated on October 29th 1861 by Bishop Spencer of Jamaica.  He was acting on behalf of the Bishop of Exeter.

The architect responsible for the church was JW Rowell, with the foundation stone being laid in 1859.  The contractors involved were Wilcox & Woodley.

On April 24th 1942 St Paul’s church was narrowly missed when a bomb landed in the churchyard.  The results were damage to the windows & roof at the east end.  A slight depression remains where the bomb landed.
