Description:
THE DEVON GUILD OF CRAFTSMEN

The Devon Guild of Craftsmen is the largest contemporary crafts centre in the South West, exhibiting and selling fine hand-made craft items made by over 240 Members based in the region. The Guild supports its Members with sales and professional development schemes. Housed in a beautiful Grade II listed Riverside Mill on the edge of Dartmoor and with a large shop and cafe, the centre boasts a public gallery which has constantly changing exhibitions by designers of international standing.

The Guild is also an educational charity which encourages young people in design and practical making skills by putting on residencies in local schools. It also puts on regular talks and workshops for the public about traditional and new craft work and techniques. The crafts on show at the centre range from the traditional to the contemporary and include metalwork, jewellery, furniture, sculpture, ceramics, prints, glass, textiles and digital photography. The craft shop is a haven for browsing unique and collectible gifts. The Terrace cafe with its light, creative ambience and rooftop seating serves locally sourced lunches from a delicious whole food menu. The exhibition usually has a family quiz with prizes to challenge visitors and there is a childrens menu and play area in the café. With walks at the edge of the moor and nearby House of Marbles, a visit to the Guild is a great day out for local visitors and tourists.

The Guild's website, www.crafts.org.uk has an online shop with a selected range of Members’ craftwork for sale, as well as details of all exhibitions and events. An events brochure (also large print) and café menu are available on request.
