Description:
Torbay Hospital dates from 1928 on its current site on the edge of Torquay.  South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust runs Torbay Hospital which serves the South Devon area.  .
The South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust catchment area covers 300 square miles - from South Dartmoor to the length of coastline which stretches from the mouth of the River Exe (Dawlish), past the Teign and Dart estuaries (beyond Dartmouth). Torbay Hospital serves a resident population of approaching 300,000 people, plus about 100,000 visitors at any one time during the summer holiday season.

The nine community (or "cottage") hospitals across South Devon (Brixham, Paignton, Dawlish, Newton Abbot, Ashburton and Buckfastleigh,Bovey Tracey,Teignmouth, Totnes, Moretonhampstead) and a wide range of community health (and some social care) services are run by the other local NHS organisations.
